Christopher and Gay is an iconic intersection, and long-standing symbol of pride. To promote acceptance for all LGBTQIA+ identities, we renamed "Gay St" and built this new sign for all to see.
On this project my partner and I worked closely with NYC's Commission on Human Rights to determine which identities should be included on the sign. During the fabrication process, we closely monitored the creation of the wings to ensure they matched the specifications of NYC's street signs. We even went down to the Village at 4:00AM to oversee the installation.
After the signs unveiling, we helped monitor and respond to commentary online. We also drove awareness for the initiative with OOH and a docu-style film featuring interviews with real NYC locals.
